The Comboni Missionaries in Uganda have launched a new initiative; the Laudato Si Centre – Comboni
Uganda (LSCC) under the theme: Together for our Environment. The LSCC is established to coordinate the activities of the Comboni Action for Environment and Human Promotion. The celebration that brought together adults, youth and children was organized by the Catholic Workers Movement and the Comboni Missionaries in Uganda to seek the collaboration of everyone in protecting the environment and caring for our poor brothers and sisters.
The launch that took place on May 1st, 2023 at the Parish of Our Lady of Africa, Mbuya, began with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Provincial Superior of the Comboni
Missionaries in Uganda, Rev. Fr. Anthony Kibira Kimbowa.
The launch of LSCC was officiated by the Commissioner (Mr. Ongol Joseph) from the Ministry of Water and Environment on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, the Chief Guest. The Ministry of Water and Environment assured all of their collaboration to ensure clean, safe, healthy and sustainable water management in the country.
Several groups, institutions, individuals and well-wishers gathered to witness the launch that nested on the feast of St Joseph the Worker, the patron saint of Catholic workers Movement and Comboni brothers. This day also doubled as the International Labour Day. The office of the Laudato Si Center – Comboni Uganda is located at Comboni House at Mbuya Catholic Parish.
