The Queen of Apostles Philosophy Centre in Jinja (PCJ) held her first graduation ceremony on the 11th May 2024, 25 students were awarded degrees in Philosophical programs and Social. 16 students got degrees in Philosophical programs and nine got degrees in Philosophy and social Studies. Fr Kanyike added that they had 30 other students who had written exams from Urbaniana Pontifical University, Rome Italy who received their transcripts. Studies.

The PCJ is also affiliated to the Urbaniana Pontifical University, Rome and was affiliated to the Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi. However, in 2021 when the PCJ was accredited by the National Council of Higher Education (NCHE), the accreditation ended the affiliation with the Uganda Martyrs University.

STUDENTS ON FIRST

The theme of the graduation was “Equipped with faith and wisdom, we hasten to serve God and humanity” Queen of Apostles Philosophy Centre was founded on the initiative of the Missionaries of Africa, the Congregation of Holy Cross, the Comboni Missionaries of the heart of Jesus and the Mill Hill Missionaries. The original purpose of the Institute was to provide an adequate philosophical education for the candidates of the Founding Congregations. To this end, the Institute drew suitably-qualified teaching staff from the Founding Congregations, and sought affiliation with the Pontificia Università Urbaniana, Rome.

Fr Edward Kanyike MCCJ the Rector of the institute said, Queen of Apostles Philosophical Centre was accredited by the National Council for Higher Education on 14th June 2021 as Other Private Degree awarding Institute. Fr Kanyike added that courses taught at the institute are Bachelor of Arts in Social and Philosophical Studies, Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Religious Sciences and languages including French, Latin and English, Bachelor of Philosophy Urbaniana Pontifical University, Rome (PUU)

Initially, the Institute was housed in the Convent of the Evangelizing Sisters of Mary, at Rubaga, Jinja, and the students of the Founding Congregations lived and studied together. The official Opening took place on September 23rd, 1989.

Currently the Institute boasts of a number of students who have passed through it, notable old students are the Bishop of Kotido Rt. Rev Dominic Eibu, The Uganda Provincial Superior of the Comboni missionaries Fr Anthony Kanyike, The Superior of the Mill Hill Missionaries and the superior of the Holy Cross.
