Our relationship with God is not a theory. It’s not a theology paper or a list of do’s and don’ts. It is, at its core, a relationship—a living, breathing, growing connection between the Creator and His creation. Just as we crave love, understanding, and companionship with other humans, our soul quietly yearns for communion with the One who made us. The journey to God isn’t always a straight path. For some, it begins with childhood prayers whispered before bedtime.
For others, it starts after seasons of suffering, a deep loss, or the weight of unanswered questions. No matter how it begins, it becomes something personal, something sacred. Unlike many relationships, God’s love doesn’t depend on us making the first move. From the very beginning of time, God has been the seeker. He walked with Adam in the garden. He called out to Abraham and Sarah. He pursued the wayward Israelites through prophets and signs.
And ultimately, He came down to us—Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us. God’s love is not forced. Love is never love when demanded. God waits. He knocks. He invites. Our response is where the relationship takes shape.

At the heart of any relationship lies trust. With God, trust often looks like walking forward without knowing all the answers. It’s believing He is good when life isn’t. It’s leaning on Him when everything else feels shaky. Many of us have moments where we question Him—times we’ve asked, “Why did you let that happen?” or “Are you even there?”
Even in our questioning, God remains. He doesn’t walk away when we doubt. He stays, patiently waiting for us to look up and to reach out. When we see God as a Father, a Friend, and a Lover of our soul, everything changes. We begin to talk to Him—not with lofty words, but with real ones. We don’t just pray; we communicate. We don’t just read the Bible; we listen for His heart in it.
Our relationship with God is in every part of our lives. God is a present help, a close companion who comes to celebrate our victories and share in our sorrows. Even when we drift away from him, He never withdraws. His grace isn’t earned. It’s given. Freely. Over and over again.
Like any relationship, our connection with God grows deeper with time. It deepens as we face trials and come out stronger with Him. It matures as we learn to surrender our plans and trust His. And it blossoms as we fall more in love with who He is—not just what He does for us. We grow when we worship. When we serve others.
When we forgive. When we let go. It’s in those moments that we find God not just beside us, but within us. God is always reaching out.
The question is: How will we respond? Will we open our hearts a little more today?
Will we trust Him even when we don’t understand?
Will we let Him love us even when we feel unworthy?
There’s no limit to how close we can get to God. There’s always more. More love. More peace. More depth! Our relationship with God is the anchor in the storm, the fire in the cold, the whisper in the chaos. He is not just our God. He is our Father, our Saviour, and our Friend.
